He is, in addition, a rugby television commentator with SuperSport.

Born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and educated at Grey High School and the University of Port Elizabeth, Gavin is a qualified teacher with a BA degree in Psychology and a diploma in Public Relations. He is also an accredited Chartered Public Relations Professional (CPRP) and member of the global CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) Council with a pending appointment to the Africa Advisory Board.

Gavin has a string of sporting achievements to his name. As a rugby player he was a Springbok reserve, Junior Springbok and represented Eastern Province in 88 matches, many as captain. He also played for SA Barbarians, Gazelles, SA Universities, a SA XV and a World XV. He also captained the Eastern Province cricket team, having played in 120 matches and also played cricket for SA Schools, Natal, Western Province and SA Universities. He also represented Eastern Province in field hockey.

Gavin has had vast experience in public speaking and is a naturally entertaining Master of Ceremonies and keynote speaker, the synergies in business and sport being one of his favourite topics.

Gavin is the author of the book "Having a Ball" and co-author of the published book, Raise Your Game.
